Concord Celebrates Sun Day!

September 21, 2025 @ 2:00 pm 4:00 pm EDT

Rise Up for a Sun-Powered Planet!

Join us for a fun, inspiring and free event as we celebrate Sun Day in Concord. Sun Day is a nation-wide day of action on September 21, 2025, celebrating solar and wind power, and the movement to leave fossil fuels behind. Here in Concord, Sun Day will celebrate our town-wide progress to power our community with clean, sustainable, affordable energy. Concord residents, businesses and Town departments are fighting climate change and saving money by installing solar panels, using heat pumps, and switching to electric lawn equipment and electric vehicles. Thousands of Concordians have made the transition to harnessing the power of the sun for their homes and transportation. And you can, too.

Learn about local, sustainable energy!

Every choice we make to use clean energy matters. It helps protect the people and places that we love from the ravages of climate change. It saves money and makes our homes more comfortable, all year long. It says yes to energy independence, clean air and clean water and “NO!” to science deniers and polluting fossil fuels. Come learn how you can join the movement to capture the sun’s unlimited energy.

Sun Day in Concord will be an easy way for you to explore options for the next time you need to purchase a car or appliance. Learn about available incentives and rebates to help you transition to sustainable homes and transportation. Hear how your neighbors and other residents made the decision to power up with solar energy or to capitalize on Concord’s green electricity to reduce their utility bills. And take the opportunity to talk to an experienced energy coach who will answer your questions, and help you understand your options – at no charge!

Make Art that Revolves Around the Sun!

Bring the whole family for fun art activities, music and more. Local arts groups will offer hands-on art projects for children of all ages.

Standout/prayer Vigil at the ICE Detention Center for Blanca

September 16, 2025 @ 7:00 am 9:00 am EDT

Last month, we held a standout/prayer vigil at the Burlington ICE Detention center for community member Blanca. Over 300 people attended, and she was released home! However, her next appointment is Tuesday, Sept. 16. ECCO, LUCE and other partners are once again organizing a standout.

Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 7AM outside the Burlington ICE Detention center, 1000 District Ave., Burlington, MA: standout for Blanca, who had an ICE appointment last month and was released home as about 300 people joined her in solidarity at her appointment. We need a high turnout to show ICE that she has even more than that amount of support and visibility – and to keep her here!
