The Indivisible Mass Coalition (IMC) is starting a Legislative Reform Action Team to devise strategies to improve the functioning of our dysfunctional MA legislature and build support for urgently needed reforms. One immediate goal is to build support for the stipend reform ballot question that we collected signatures for last fall.
If you’d like to join the team’s first Zoom meeting, sign up here. If you’re unable to attend the Zoom call but are interested in participating or finding out what the team will tackle, join the team’s channel on IMC’s Slack. If you’re not on IMC’s Slack, use this form to request an invitation to join.
Please join Common Start at the Massachusetts State House on March 5th to advocate directly to House Representatives about the House FY27 budget proposal, and to ensure that the Common Start priorities are reflected in the FY27 budget proposal that gets released in April.
Important events like this allow us to talk in-person with legislators and legislative staff about our FY27 budget priorities, including increasing the number of families receiving child care financial assistance, growing funding for the C3 operational grant program to support additional child care providers, moving Massachusetts further toward child care reimbursement rates that cover the true cost of delivering high-quality care, and delivering much-needed funding for Head Start providers.
If you are new to advocacy days or advocating directly at the State House – no worries! We will have materials and training provided for everyone who joins, and this is a great opportunity to learn first-hand how everyone in the Commonwealth can advocate for Common Start priorities to their legislators.
Common Start Advocacy Day Time: Thursday, March 5, at 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Location: State House Cafe, 4th floor of the Massachusetts State House (24 Beacon St, Boston, MA 02133)
On February 11th, over 100 rabbis and cantors will make history as the largest group of Jewish clergy to protest ICE in Washington DC. The same day, Jewish leaders across the country will also protest corporations that help ICE carry out its immoral detention and deportations.
The Jewish movement against ICE is growing, but it’ll take every one of us to knock down the pillars that enable ICE’s cruelty. This includes private corporations like Signature Aviation, which helps coordinate fuel and logistics for deportation flights.
On June 6th, American citizens were brutally attacked by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Los Angeles, California. Come join us to write postcards with Greater Andover Indivisible’s friendly community. Our overarching objective is to get progressive candidates into office approve progressive legislation / defeat MAGA legislation wherever possible.
Available postcard campaigns vary from week to week and by pick-up location. We write cards to key districts around the country to: – Provide info about voter registration and encourage people to register; – Remind people of upcoming elections and encourage voting by providing important information about when/where/how to vote; – Build name recognition for progressive candidates; – Inform people about what their MAGA elected officials are doing; – and more.
Scripts vary but often use top-of-mind issues, like healthcare and cost of living, to attract recipients’ attention.
