Don’t Stream Fascism-Cancel Spotify

Our Demands for Spotify

Until our demands are met, we will withhold our subscriptions and our support. We are calling on Spotify founder and current CEO Daniel Ek, as well as Gustav Söderström and Alex Norström who will become the new co-CEOs starting in January 2026, to:

  • Immediately terminate all ICE and DHS advertising contracts with Spotify.
  • Spotify must update its Advertising Policy to prohibit government propaganda and hate-based recruitment campaigns.
  • Spotify must commit to defending civil rights and standing up for communities under threat from authoritarian actions.

What You Can do

We are asking every listener and artist to take three key actions:

  1. Cancel your Spotify subscription, TODAY until the ICE ads are removed.
  2. Stop streaming content on Spotify until ICE ads are removed.
  3. Engage in peaceful, public protest outside of Spotify offices, studios, or major events to demand they stop their ICE recruitment ads.*
    • Bring your community together to make your voices heard, peacefully and powerfully.
    • Use your signs, stories, and creativity to demand that Spotify drop ICE ads and stand on the right side of history.
    • Share photos and videos from your protest on social media and tag Spotify on their social media accounts.
    • Use hashtags: #CancelSpotify #DontStreamFascism #StopICEAds
  4. Tag Spotify publicly and urge artists, podcasters, and labels to denounce these ads and oppose the platform complicity.

How to cancel Spotify Premium

We’ve included instructions on how to cancel Spotify via website, iOS app, Android, or if the service is bundled with a mobile/internet provider.

Alternative music streaming services

If you want to continue streaming music while standing against ICE ads, consider platforms that are not running ICE recruitment ads such as:

Tidal: tidal.com

Apple Music: music.apple.com

Disclaimer: Indivisible is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or in a corporate partnership with Tidal, Apple Music, or any other streaming platform. We are recommending these services solely as alternatives that, to our knowledge, do not air ICE recruitment ads.

More info from allies:

Let’s face it, your favorite streaming platform has long been problematic:

Spotify has given consumers plenty of reasons to walk away – and last week, it added one more to the list… Running recruitment ads for the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency.

Let’s be clear this is a broad advertising campaign that I.C.E. is running across multiple platforms including: Pandora, Hulu, YouTube, and HBO MAX. To make matters worse Univision and Telemundo are also airing I.C.E self deportation ads, targeting Latino audiences!  However Spotify has been the only company to double down stating the ads are compliant with the streamers U.S. advertising policy.

Enough is enough. We’ve been done with playing nice!
