Xavier Becerra is the son of Mexican-American immigrants who came to America with $12 in their pockets. He grew up in the home that his father, a Union man, built himself. Following in their footsteps of hard work and giving back, Xavier was the first in his family to go to college.
Becerra and his wife, Dr. Carolina Reyes, raised their three girls in Los Angeles. Like their parents before them, they’ve taught their daughters that hard work and dedication to community is the best way to create and improve opportunity.
Becerra has spent 35 years serving California– from the State Assembly to the U.S. Congress, as California’s Attorney General, and the United States Secretary of Health and Human Services.
Throughout his career, he has focused on one thing: Doing what’s right and building lasting change for Californians.
Now, he’s running for Governor to defend and build upon the California Dream: where every family can prosper in a safe and welcoming community, afford healthcare and basic needs, and retire with dignity.
